Is the next crisis around the corner? Anxiety exists in some corners of the Congress Centre in Davos, Switzerland, where the World Economic Forum is taking place this week. The IMF has been the most outspoken about the possibility of a full-fledged crisis, given the outstanding risks.
Debt levels are the primary source of concern, panelists agreed this morning in a forum on the next financial crisis.
But for some, the likelihood of a crisis is not that imminent. “We are still coming out of the last financial crisis”, argued Kenneth Rogoff, a professor at Harvard University.
There could be another recession, he admitted but recalled that we were still on the tail end of the last one.
